Description

A substantial and most attractive detached Grade II Listed two storey former Methodist church, constructed in 1882 in a prominent roadside position on the western edge of the sought-after village of Treverva. The church has been decommissioned with the pews and organ removed. The property is Grade II Listed which also includes the external ramp, gate pillars, gate, walls and railings at road frontage. The ground floor comprises a former Meeting Room (33’10 x 29’3) with a stage area, which is entered via a Porch (7’4 x 5’2) with doors internally to the Vestry (16’11 x 10’11) and the Kitchen (12’ x 8’2), a stairwell leads to the first floor.  There is a separate doorway from the kitchen leading to rear Utility (9’8 x 9’7) and Boiler Room (9’6 x 7’5) with oil-fired boiler, each of which have external doors leading out to a small yard area with two external wc’s. The first floor Chapel Room (45’3 x 29’11) and Alter/Organ Loft (17’11 x 12’) are accessed via a ramp leading to the external Porch (6’10 x 4’10) to the side of the building. The building has a gross internal floor area of 298 sqm (3200 sq ft) or thereabouts. (taken from EPC). Planning: In 2015 the church obtained planning and listed building consent for the conversion to a two/three bedroom dwelling, but this planning has now lapsed.  It is felt that the chapel would lend itself to alternative uses, subject to planning consent. Situation The popular rural village of Treverva is conveniently placed for the harbour town of Falmouth and its excellent maritime facilities and seafront with sandy beaches close to the ancient town of Penryn and the villages of Mabe, Constantine and Budock.  Falmouth is approximately 4 miles distant and has good local shops, national retailers and supermarkets, schooling, doctors surgery, health centre, hospital and railway branch line to Truro. The university campus at Tremough, Penryn is only 3 miles away and the City of Truro is about 10 miles distant, providing an excellent range of retail and commercial facilities together with private schooling, college, hospitals and mainline railway link to London Paddington.  The former market town of Helston is 9 miles away, the Creekside village of Gweek, home of the Cornwall Seal Sanctuary is 5 miles and the picturesque village of Constantine is 3 miles, with excellent local facilities.  The creek at Port Navis is 4 miles away and leads to the famous sailing waters of the Helford River.
